Lakeland, FL - Earlier this morning a FedEx semi was traveling eastbound on I-4 in the outside lane approaching the exit ramp to Kathleen Road.  Miguer Manzano, driver, attempted to keep control of the semi when he then went onto the shoulder and collided with the guardrail.  After the impact, he then collided with a railroad support pier for the railroad overpass.  The crash caused his trailer, which included a double tandem trailer combination, to lose it load of packages which were scattered across the eastbound lanes of I-4.  The crash closed the roadway for over four hours.

While the road was closed and being investigated, a second collision occurred.  This also included a semi whichwas traveling eastbound on I-4 in the outside lane west of Kathleen Road.  Failing to slow for other stopped traffic, the driver, Roberto Garcia, lost control. Garcia collided with a guardrail and jackknifed; as a result of the crash, the passenger side saddle tank was pierced and approximately 100-150 gallons of fuel spilled onto the roadway and shoulder.
