Tampa's "Exploding Chicken"
Tampa, Florida -- Good news for the fans of Tampa's ionic "Exploding Chicken" sculpture. The piece, which had been in storage since it was removed from the "Beer Can" building on Kennedy and Ashley, is finally being assembled again.
The 36-foot tall sculpture is being relocated to the Channel District, where it will sit in the center of the roundabout just north of the Florida Aquarium.
Workers started reassembling the sculpture Monday -- a project expected to last through the end of the week.
Tampa Tribune Columnist Steve Otto is the one who gave the yellow sculpture the name "Exploding Chicken".
The artist who designed the piece did not give it a name.
