Officials said nearly 30 personnel from Polk County Fire Rescue and Winter Haven Fire Department fought the fire, but the wood frame of the 3,000 square-foot home suffered extensive head, smoke and water damages, and the families have been displaced.

Crews were still on scene after 10 p.m., and the report said the Florida State Fire Marshal is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families.
