Tampa, FL-- On the first day of NFL free agency, the Bucs focused on cornerback Darrelle Revis and safety Dashon Goldson.  No agreements have been announced, but the Bucs are talking about acquiring both players.

The team sent a private jet to pick up Goldson in San Francisco, and bring him to Tampa.  He will visit One Buc Place on Wednesday, and the Bucs are hopeful they can convince the first-team All Pro free safety to sign a long-term contract with the Bucs.  It is estimated Goldson wants a deal in the neighborhood of $8 million per years.

The 28-year-old is a 2-time Pro Bowl player, and a former 4th round draft choice out of Washington.  His nickname is "Hawk", for ballhawker, and is known for his hard hitting out of the free safety position for the 49ers.

Revis' situation with the New York Jets is different.  He still has a year to go on his contract, so the Bucs have to work out a trade.  It will take at least one high draft choice... and then GM Mark Dominik will have to negotiate a new, long-term contract.  Revis is said to want at least $14 million per season.

The 27-year-old out of Pittsburgh, is considered the best cornerback in football.  But he's coming off of a torn ACL in his knee.

Pro Football Talk reported that the Bucs made an offer, both on a trade then on a new contract, but the Jets have not forwarded the details to Revis' camp.

The Bucs have options if they want a cornerback, because there are several good players at that position, on the open market.
