TAMPA, Florida - Hillsborough County Fire Rescue units responded to a report of a vehicle that hit a tree and went up in flames trapping the driver in the car.
HCFR spokesperson, Ronnie Rivera tells 10 News there were two occupants in the car. The driver was trapped and unconscious but the passenger was able to get out.
A Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputy and a Temple Terrace Police Officer arrived on scene first and were able to rescue the unconscious driver from the burning car saving his life. They were able to cut the patients seat belt and quickly removed him from the car.
Upon arrival, HCFR units quickly extinguish the fire and the medical rescue unit attended to the patient.
The driver of the car was treated and transported by Fire Rescue crews in critical condition to a trauma center.
The passenger of the car was also transported to the hospital in fair condition.
There were no reports of injuries to fire personnel or law enforcement personnel.
HCFR spokesperson, Ronnie Rivera says the operation was a success and a life was saved.
