Port Charlotte, FL-- The Rays will play a pair of split-squad games, to kick off the Grapefruit League schedule.
They'll host the Pittsburgh Pirates at Charlotte Sports Park, at 1:05pm, in the first game. Roberto Hernandez will start for the Rays, rookie Wil Myers will play right field and bat seventh.
In the other game, the Rays will play the Red Sox at Fort Myers. That game will be televised back to New England on NESN.
In the first 10 days of Spring Training workouts, Joe Maddon has seen a lot he likes.
"The energy's been great," Maddon said. "We're getting our program out there... We just had a great discussion with our position players about some situational components of our offense... I like the pace of this whole thing... I like the attentiveness... I like the energy... It's been great."
