Tampa, Florida-- Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials responded to reports of a fire at Bruno's Pizza off of Fletcher Ave. Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the fire was concentrated to a storage area in the back of the building.
Firefighters extinguished the flames from the inside, and reports say crews also laddered the roof and cut a small access hole to double check the fire did not spread to the attic space.
Fortunately, Bruno's Pizza Pie is set up as a carry out/pick up only restaurant, so there were no customers in the business at the time of the fire.
Officials say the restaurant recently hired an independent contractor to repair the roof AC/exhaust unit. No word yet on whether or not that had a role in the fire.
For now, the restaurant will remain closed until further inspection by the state.
The previously closed roads, 23rd St. between Fletcher Ave, and 123rd St., have since been reopened.
