Lake Wales, FL-- The search for a wanted child sexual battery suspect continues despite his wife's alleged attempt to lead deputies in the wrong direction.

According to reports, the investigation began on January 24, 2013. Detectives attempted to contact 68-year-old Charles Luther Bailey, who is wanted on two counts of sexual battery on a child less than 12-years-old, but he had already learned of the investigation and fled the area.

Two days later, on January 26, officials say Baily's wife, Viola Baily, reported him missing to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Viola's story claimed she and her husband were at a store in Duette, Florida when Charles suddenly ran away from her and left behind a suicide note.

Further investigation revealed Viola had actually dropped Charles off at the intersection of State Road 301 and County Road 62 in Parish, Florida- nearly 20 minutes away from the location in her story.

Viola was charged with filing a false police report.

Officials ask the public to keep an eye out for Charles Baily, who they say has yet to be found. He is described as follows:
