Tampa, FL-- A car chase that began on in Tampa ended with an arrest across the bay in St. Petersburg early Wednesday morning.
According to Tampa Police officials, an officer driving near Fowler Ave. and 15th St. spotted a red, 2010 Ford pick-up truck with Mississippi plates that had previously been reported stolen.
When the officer pulled over the driver, 23-year-old Gregory Brinson, and his two passengers, Lebaron Woods, 21, and Landrick Edwards, 23, Woods and Edwards tried to run away.
Officials were able to catch and arrest them almost immediately, though Brinson's arrest would follow shortly after.
According to reports, Brinson made a getaway in the stolen truck. He drove south on Interstate 275, crossed the Howard Frankland Bridge and finally exited on 15th Ave. in St. Pete- a drive estimated by Google Maps to take between 30 and 40 minutes.
Brinson kept driving until he finally stopped the car and tried to run away on foot north of Fargo St. South.
Officials caught him on the 1200 block of Fargo St. and arrested him "based on fresh pursuit inside the residence," reports say.
Three agencies- Tampa Police, St. Petersburg Police and Pinellas County Sheriff's Office- assisted in this incident.
The passengers, Woods and Edwards, were reportedly charged with "Trespass of a Conveyance." Brinson was charged with Grand Theft Auto, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.
