Temple Terrace, Florida -- Tonight at 11, 10 News Sports Multimedia Journalist Bobby Lewis went out to Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club Monday for the 3rd annual United States Professional Hickory Golf Championship.
The tournament brings golfers back to a time in the early 1900's and features retro equipment, balls supplied by the tournament, and period dress code. The $5,000 up for grabs also remains the same as the original tournament that began in 1925.
"Our organization has always believed that passing on the traditions and history if the game is an important function of our role as teachers and custodians of golf," said Geoff Bryant, who's organization the United States Golf Teachers Federation sponsored the event. "Supporting this commemorative historical tribute to the game is not just something we wanted to do, but felt obligated to do."
