Winter Haven, FL-- A Winter Haven man has been arrested after he threatened to kill a man outside of a local Dairy Queen.

It was 9:30 Thursday night when the victim was getting out of his vehicle at the Dairy Queen off Cypress Gardens Blvd. when 56-year-old Robert Hood Freeman approached him and asked for money, reports say.

Freeman apparently did not like it when the victim denied having any money, as reports say he then followed the victim around his vehicle, spit at him multiple times, threatened to kill him and pulled out a knife.

The victim was able to get away from Freeman unharmed, but Freeman fled from the area.

Reports say officers saw him duck into a business located directly across the street from the Dairy Queen, and when they approached him, Freeman refused to leave.

After a brief struggle, officers ended up escorting Freeman out of the business and arresting him.

They took him to the Polk County Jail, where reports say he was just released from last Friday for assaulting an officer.

Freeman's charges include Battery, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest without Violence.

Freeman has an extensive criminal history which includes Assault on Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Assault, Battery, Burglary, Possession of Marijuana, Disorderly Conduct, Petit Theft and Trespassing.
