Tampa, FL-- Commuters who use the South Dale Mabry Highway exit off of I-275 South, exit 41A, will be looking for a new route after Wednesday morning.
According to the Department of Transportation, that exit will close permanently after 5 a.m. on January 9.
Drivers, have no fear, you will still be able to access South Dale Mabry Highway, but you will have to take the exit currently utilized for North Dale Mabry access, exit 41B.
The exit will be renamed "41A/B", and will be restriped Tuesday night to allow two turn lanes to each direction of Dale Mabry. The turns will be controlled by a traffic light.
Here are some tips to make this adjustment a bit easier, courtesy of the Department of Transportation:
1. If you miss Exit 41A/B, simply continue to the next exit (Lois Avenue, Exit 40B). After exiting, turn right onto Lois then right onto Cypress Street and go east to Dale Mabry Highway OR turn left after exiting I-275 and go south on Lois to Kennedy Boulevard, then turn left onto Kennedy and go east to Dale Mabry Highway.
2. Expect some drivers to be confused by the changes, particularly the first day and for about a week. Pay close attention through that area, watching for other drivers making abrupt lane changes, slowing quickly and other driving adjustments.
