Winter Haven, FL-- It was in broad daylight on Christmas Eve when three men reportedly tried to rob a 72-year-old woman in a grocery store parking lot, and today, police say those men are behind bars.

According to reports, the woman was loading her groceries into her car around 12:30 p.m. at the Winn Dixie off of Recker Highway when two of the three men approached her.

Darrel Bandy, 21, and Christopher Rashaad Lewis, 19, ran up to her and took her purse.

Police say a bystander witnessed the crime and immediately stepped in, detaining Lewis until officers arrived.

A K-9 officer then located Bandy in a nearby apartment complex.

The third suspect, 24-year-old Willie Andrew Turner of Auburndale, was reportedly hiding Bandy in a car he was standing next to in the apartment complex.

He refused to answer officers' questions about Bandy's whereabouts, but a witness was able to link Turner to Bandy, who is actually his brother.

All three men were arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail.
