LAND O'LAKES, Florida (AP) - Armed law enforcement officers will be leaving elementary schools in Pasco County before the two-week winter break.
The Tampa Tribune reports resource officers are assigned to every middle and high school in the county, but not for elementary schools.
Superintendent Kurt Browning says officers won't be permanently assigned to elementary schools. He expects the district to return to normalcy by the end of the week.
Law enforcement agencies across Florida sent additional officers to schools after last Friday's shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut that left 20 students and six adults dead.
In nearby Hillsborough County, authorities questioned students after bullets were found on school buses two days in a row.
