ST. PETERSBURG, Florida -- Former Hillsborough Commissioner Kevin White, who is in prison on bribery charges, is suing the county's insurance agencies.

In the bad faith claim lawsuit, White says the insurance companies should have covered him when his former aide, Alyssa Ogden, sued him for sexual harassment.

A federal judge has already ruled against the insurance companies, and that opened the door for White to file the bad faith claim.

Sucessful bad faith claim suits often produce huge awards to make sure that insurance companies don't routinely deny claims, and that pay a "slap on the wrist" award as the cost of doing business.

If White is sucessful, he could walk out of prison a wealthy man.
