Gulfport, FL-- "I need that money," a strong-arm robbery suspect yelled to a 70-year-old woman as he pried her recently withdrawn cash from her hands.
It was around 10:25 a.m. this past Wednesday morning when the woman, who has not been identified at this time, used the ATM at the Wells Fargo Bank off the 2000 block of 49th St. S.
Reports say the suspect watched from the curb as she withdrew $20, and approached her as she was getting into her car to steal it from her.
The woman reportedly cried for help as a 29-year-old male, also yet to be identified, rode by on his scooter and heard her.
Officials say the man chased the suspect, caught up to him and got into a struggle in an effort to get the woman's money back, landing the man on the scooter a bite on his forearm and a threat of being "cut."
The man reportedly pushed the suspect away and watched him as he fled east in St. Petersburg.
The suspect remains on the loose. Officials have provided the following description:
- Black male suspect
- 5'11"-6'00" tall
- Slim build
- Small gray afro style hair
- Missing some teeth
- Wearing a blue t-shirt and blue jeans
They say the suspect's name is still unknown, but investigative efforts are being made to identify him.
