Florida Highway Patrol troopers report around 7:35 a.m. for some unknown reason the driver of a Chevy S-10, later identified as 36-year-old Michael Boles, veered into the southbound lane of US Hwy 41 while heading north. In order to avoid colliding with the Chevy, Jeffrey Osborne swerved into the west shoulder and hit some fiber optic cables with the undercarriage of his Ford pickup truck.
The Chevy continued to head north in the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Mitsubishi Galant driven by 21-year-old Joseph Whaley. In order to avoid colliding the Chevy, Bradford Ball swerved his Toyota Corolla into the west shoulder and hit a road sign.
Boles and Whaley both died at the scene. Neither Ball, 31, nor his passenger, were hurt. Osborne, 43, was not hurt either.
