Tampa, FL - Carrollwood Day School's Robert Davis is the Southern Ford Dealers Player of the Week.
The senior running back rushed for 245 yards on 35 carries, leading the Patriots past Moore Haven 24-14, in the first round of the Class 2A state football playoffs.
In the game, Davis also became Hillsborough County's career rushing leader, moving past Riverview's Avious Steadman's mark of 5,320 yards.
Davis presently has 5,475 career yards and he still has at least one game remaining, and up to three more games, if Carrollwood Day makes it to the state championship game.
Davis says getting to the championship game is more important then owning the rushing record. "My whole goal was to get to states. The rushing record was fine but it I don't make it to states, I'll feel like I let my team down."
This Friday, the Patriots travel to Naples to take on First Baptist Academy, currently ranked the No. 1 team in Class 2A.
