Tampa, Florida -- About half of all people planning to travel during this long holiday weekend will hit the road on Wednesday, according to AAA.

If you're flying in or out of Tampa Bay, here are three reasons to be thankful:

- The weather across most of the United States is excellent for travel on Wednesday.

- Oregon and Washington State are expecting terrible weather -- but those areas aren't home to any major airline hubs, so we shouldn't see a ripple effect of delays across the country.

- Most of us who fly will go through Tampa International Airport, which often ranks as one of America's top ten airports.

A warning: Airport workers are planning a demonstration today at Los Angeles International Airport. That could mean delays once you get on the ground at LAX. The protest is planned for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time.

Wednesday is one of the year's busiest travel days. AAA surveys indicate 44 million Americans will travel out of town for Thanksgiving; this is the fourth straight year that number has gone up.

Around 90 percent of people who travel this weekend are expected to go by car, so be sure to follow 10 News traffic reporter Lorena Rabago on Twitter for updates.
