Lutz, FL-- 24-year-old Robert Haines II of Lutz, FL was transported to St. Joseph's hospital yesterday evening after he was hit by a car while riding his bike.

It was shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday when reports say Haines was riding his bike northbound along the right paved shoulder on Livingston Ave.

When he arrived at the intersection of Andrea Lynn Dr., witnesses say Haines made a U-turn directly into the path of northbound and southbound traffic.

One car narrowly missed him in the northbound lane, but Haines continued into the southbound lane- right into the path of a Ford Thunderbird driven by 69-year-old Carlos Adames.

Reports say Adames, who had two passengers in his car, failed to see Haines, and struck the rear of the bicycle- ejecting him from the bike.

Haines received life-threatening injuries, and was transported to the hospital.

His current condition is not known.
