Palmetto, Florida -- A concerned citizen who alerted police to drug activity in the area near a middle school resulted in the arrest of three men Thursday.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office says the resident told them they were concerned about narcotic sales in the area of Lincoln Middle School and an undercover investigation was launched.
After undercover detectives had purchased rock cocaine and marijuana from three men, a roundup was conducted on Nov. 8. All three men were arrested without incident in the 1600 block of 1st Avenue in Palmetto.
The three men arrested and their charges are listed below:
- Clifford Leland, Jr., 32, on 6 counts of Sale of Rock Cocaine and 4 counts of Sale of Marijuana
- Eugene Furnice, 38, on 4 counts of Sale of Rock Cocaine and one count of Sale of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Rock Cocaine
- Marcus Johnson, 22, for five counts of Sale of Rock Cocaine
