Police arrested Andre Miles in Oldsmar who was wanted for multiple felonies

Oldsmar, Florida -- Deputies arrested a man wanted in connection with a home invasion and other felonies was arrested early Friday morning.

Violent Crimes Task Force members received a tip that Andre Miles was seen driving a rented Chevy pick-up truck in the area of Shore Drive and SR 580 in Oldsmar Thursday night.

Authorities caught up with him around 1 a.m. Friday while he was heading west on SR 580. After setting up "stop sticks" near the 580 bridge, they were able to stop his truck. However, as police approached, he reversed the truck and rammed a deputy's cruiser. Two other task force members were able to use their cruisers to block his escape.

During his arrest, a .45 caliber Colt handgun with the hammer cocked fell out of Miles' waistband and onto the seat of the truck. The gun was secured and Miles was taken into custody.

Authorities say the gun was stolen in a residential burglary back in August. 

Miles, 25, has been charged with the Armed Home Invasion Robbery from Sept. 19, Grand Theft Carrying a Concealed Weapon Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Driving with License Suspended or Revoked (DWLSR) Resisting an Officer without Violence Possession of Marijuana Felon in Possession of a Firearm Warrant out of Hillsborough Co. for VOP Fleeing and Eluding.

The sheriff's office says he has a lengthy criminal history as an adult and juvenile.
