Hernando County, Florida -- A woman who stole her hospitalized roommate's debit card and made several fraudulent transactions from her account was arrested Thursday.

Hernando County detectives say Amber Holbin's roommate noticed 10 fraudulent transactions after she was released from the hospital on July 25.

During the nearly two weeks she was in the hospital, detectives say Holbin made ATM withdrawals from her account as well as other purchases throughout the county  that totaled over $1,000.

At times, Holbin, 27, deposited checks from the closed accounts of two people into the woman's account from people she didn't know and then immediately withdrew the cash.

Detectives learned that Holbin did know the owners' of the checks and they said she had been in their homes and could have stolen their "old checks".

Surveillance videos at the bank where the ATM withdrawals were made confirmed Holbin was the suspect.

On Oct. 18, Holbin told a detective she wanted to turn herself in and in an interview admitted to the crime saying she is addicted to prescription pills and needed money to buy them.

She was arrested and charged with Organized Fraud less than $20,000 and is being held on $2,000 bond.
