MADEIRA BEACH, Florida -- A woman was seriously injured on Saturday after deputies say she collided head-on with another person while riding jet skis.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Lauren Bell and a friend, 49-year-old John Geletka, rented jet skis north of John's Pass Bridge. While on the water near the All Seasons Vacation Resort, deputies say Bell abruptly made a 180-degree turn while at a high rate of speed. That's when Geletka, who was unable to avoid the collision, hit Bell head-on.
Deputies say Geletka's jet ski traveled over Bell's, striking her in the head and face and ejecting her from her own jet ski.
Bell was taken to Bayfront Medical Center. Deputies say her injuries are non life-threatening.
