North Port, Florida -- Officials say they have completed their investigation into the suspicious fire that killed a North Port mother and her child back in April.
On April 4, police found the bodies of 43-year-old Carol Wisdom and another person, later identified as her 8-year-old son Michael, severly burned in their home at 2585 Duar Terrace around 5 o'clock in the morning.
State Fire Marshals believed the fire was arson and initially questioned Carol's ex-husband, Michael, about the fire after they learned the pair had been battling over custody of their son Michael. At the time of the fire, Michael had petitioned the court for shared custody of their son and for Carol to move out of his home on Duar Terrace.
The result of the investigation revealed it was Carol who had set the fire that killed her and her son.
