Tampa, Florida -- A construction worker who became trapped in a nearly 10 foot hole underneath the I-75 overpass at Bruce B. Downs Blvd. was flown to an area hospital Friday afternoon.
Tampa Fire says the worker was working down in the 8-9 foot hole dug for a light pole when the wet dirt of the wall gave way and collapsed on him trapping him up to his waist.
When he was removed from the hole, he was flown to a trauma center for further evaluation of his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
