Sarasota, Florida -- It took a lot of teamwork from two dozen zoo staffers and volunteers, but a mother manatee and her calf are now once again swimming in Sarasota waters.

The mother, named Tomobella, was rescued from Roberts Bay in Siesta Key on July 19 after she began behaving strangely. Her still nursing calf was also retrieved, and named Sarabella, after her mother and the Sarasota location.
After two months of care at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, Tomobella was once again strong and healthy, so on Thursday the two manatees were released into familiar waters.
