Dunedin, Florida -- Deputies say a man came to a young woman's rescue who crashed into a retention pond while trying to avoid an accident.

Pinellas County deputies say around 4:45 Thursday afternoon 20-year-old Bailey Hartman was heading south on Belcher Road when she was apparently cut off by an unidentified vehicle traveling northbound that made a U-turn in front of her. When she swerved to avoid the car, she lost control and crashed into the retention pond on the corner of Belcher and Solon Avenue.

Joseph Isabelle, 46, saw what happened, pulled over and jumped into the water to help her out of the car. He also stayed with Hartman until emergency crews arrived.

Neither were injured.

Hartman's car did sink completely and was recovered by a dive team.

The car that reportedly cut her off did not stop and is described as possibly a black, two-door Chevy.
