Lakeland, Florida -- A motorcyclist trying to avoid a car who pulled out in front of him on Lakeland Hills Boulevard is suffering from life-threatening injuries Thursday.
Lakeland Police say around 11:36 a.m., 52-year-old Kevin Kessler was heading north in the 2900 block of Lakeland Hills Boulevard in the inside lane when 24-year-old Daisy Gaytan pulled out in front of him while trying to make a left onto the road.
Kessler slammed on his brakes and lost control of his bike. When officers arrived, the found him lying in the inside lane of the northbound side of the road. Police say Kessler's bike did not hit Gaytan's Volkswagon but he was not wearing a helmet when he was ejected.
Police say once Kessler arrived at LRMC, his condition was upgraded to life-threatening.
After speaking with witnesses, Gaytan was issued a traffic citation for her role in the accident, however, the case is still open and there will be a follow-up investigation conducted.
