Sarasota, Florida -- Sarasota Police officers made a sizable bust early Wednesday morning during a traffic stop on Washington Boulevard.

Patrol officers pulled over Carmon Merideth, 18, and Christina Richer, 19, in the 600 block of Washington Boulevard around 3:20 a.m. over a tag issue and immediately smelled what they thought was marijuana coming from the car.

During a search of the car, Sarasota Police say the officers found a backpack behind the driver's seat filled with a little over 250 grams of marijuana packaged in multiple bags, nearly 90 grams of cocaine, over $18,000 in cash and a black BB gun.

During an interview with detectives, Merideth admitted to knowing about the items in the backpack and even went into detail about how he sells the drugs and how much money he makes. Richer did say she had just bought the vehicle and that she and Merideth were living together, but she did not know about the contraband in the backpack.

Both have been charged Trafficking in Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Sell or Deliver, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
