TAMPA, Florida -- "It feels like a slap in the face," said Tim Gunderson.

The Army specialist was ripped off here at home while fighting overseas. He was deployed to Afghanistan with his troop in July of last year, and returned to Tampa just 14 days ago. When he went to check on his civilian job at Tire Choice and Total Car Care in Pasco, he discovered the locks on his tool box had been punched out and all his tools were gone.

When he questioned it, he says the store manager sent him a letter saying he had 48 hours to collect his things from the shop.

"I just want answers. They wont answer my phone calls," said Gunderson.

Gunderson has the most dangerous military job of all, finding and disabling IEDs along transport roads. He said he gladly accepts the year-long sacrifice for his country, but will not sacrifice his livelihood because of a thief.

His tools were expensive, all neumatic, snap-on automotive, with a value of at least $20,000-30,000. He said he wants Tire Choice to compensate him for his loss, so 10 News contacted the corporate office in Ft. Lauderdale for comment. We received a call back and are working on getting a response.

"It's impossible to do my job without my tools," he said.
