TAMPA, Florida -- State Senator Ronda Storms overwhelmingly defeated 4-time Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Rob Turner Tuesday in the Republican primary.
Storms gave up the last two years of her Senate term because she was outraged by the tawdry sexually oriented escapades of Turner. Obviously, the voters agree.
Turner admits he mailed pornography to his former HR director, Carolyn Filloppe, who he then fired after she complained to the EEOC. In addition to sending porn, Turner allegedly made requests for sexual intercourse, sent Filloppe pictures of his privates parts, and made inquires about her breasts, Filloppe says.
Amazingly, Turner didn't think it would have an impact on the race. But that, coupled with new information saying he padded his resume, sent the 16-year veteran property appraiser to electoral oblivion.
However, Storms says it was more than just Turner's moral lapse -- the voters are angry and want accountability.
Turner, who has slinked away from the media for the past several weeks, wouldn't communicate where he would be Tuesday night. The Tampa Tribune says one of its reporters tracked Turner to a South Tampa restaurant. He was told it was a private party and that he needed to leave. The Tribune says when asked if he wanted to comment, the disgraced property appraiser reportedly asked the journalist if he wanted him to call the police to make him leave.
Storms will now face former State Rep. Bob Henriquez in the general election in November.
