Largo, Florida -- A 17-year-old Largo girl died in the overnight hours at St. Joseph's Hospital from injuries she received in a crash on I-75 Friday evening, according to FHP.
The Florida Highway Patrol says around 5:30 Aria Karina Curad Mallari was heading south on I-75, just south of SR 54, when she lost control for an unknown reason and crossed the median into on-coming traffic.
After crossing the median, her Honda Civic began to rotate and was hit on the left side by Kyle Eugene Mansfield's pickup truck. Mansfield's truck rotated and was hit on the right side by Christina L. Penner's Ford Ranger.
After impact, troopers say Mallari's car split in two and burst into flames.
Mansfield, 25, of Hernando, is in serious condition at Florida Hospital in Zephryhills and Penner, 46, of Largo, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
