NEW PORT RICHEY, Florida -- The American Red Cross tells 10 News a dog alerted its owner to a house fire, saving her life.

Firefighters with Pasco County Fire EMS say they were called to the property in the Moon Lake subdivision at 4:30 a.m. The fire was under control by 5:03 a.m.

The woman, Tammy Kemp, cares for about 200 animals on her property. Not one was injured in the fire.

Due to the fire, there's no running water or electricity, so animal rescue groups are stepping in to care for the animals. We are told there are ducks, horses, chickens, and emus among the 200 animals being taken in right now.

The Red Cross says they have found a place for Kemp to stay for the next few days while she works on a long-term recovery plan.
