Whiskey North shooting leaves one dead

UPDATE: Witnesses to the incident informed Homicide Detectives with a description of the vehicle at the scene of the crime, which was driven by Jordan Lee McKenna. McKenna has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to 2nd Degree Murder w/Firearm and Accessory After the Fact to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder w/Firearm. McKenna has been booked into the Polk County Jail where he will await transfer back to Hillsborough County.  

Carrollwood - One person has died and another is in critical condition after a shooting at Whiskey North, 11921 N. Dale Mabry Hwy. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's department  at 2:15 am Saturday morning, deputies were dispatched to Whiskey North in Carrolwood regarding shots being fired in the parking lot.

Deputies quickly arrived on scene and determined at least two people had been shot. The two victims were taken to a local hospital where one has died and the other is in critical condition. Homicide detectives and crime scene technicians have been dispatched and are currently on scene working the investigation.

According to the Sheriff's preliminary report, just before the bar closed at 3 a.m., Pablo Bonilla, 23, and his girlfriend were inside the bar when Bonilla observed an unidentified man talking to his girlfriend. Both Bonilla and the unidentified man exchanged heated words but were separated before any further escalation.

After the bar closed, Bonilla and his girlfriend along with several other associates were standing in the parking lot outside their vehicle, when a car pulled up and a gunman got out and opened fire. Multiple shots were fired, striking Bonilla and the second victim at least once in the upper body.

Emergency crews took both men to a local hospital where Pablo Bonilla later died. The second victim is being treated and is expected to survive. The suspect(s) fled the scene. No one else was injured. Homicide detectives and crime scene technicians were dispatched and are currently on scene working the investigation. Detectives will be interviewing all witnesses to determine who the shooter is and if anyone else was involved.
