Clearwater, Florida -- A woman was taken to a hospital Thursday morning after she was pulled from the ocean who was caught in a rip current at Clearwater Beach near lifeguard tower #5.
Authorities say the 50-year-old woman was unresponsive but medical staff were able to get a pulse back after performing CPR. She was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Two of her family members were also helped to shore by lifeguards. They were not injured.
The City warns citizens that although the surf appears to be calm after Tropical Storm Debby there are still dangerous currents below the surface. Yellow flags have been posted at the beach Thursday to let swimmers know to use caution.
