WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The National Weather Service now confirms seven tornadoes as a result of Tropical Storm Debby.

One of those tornadoes is blamed for damaging at least 87 homes and buildings in Polk County on Sunday evening.

Pat Frankenburger's home on Lakeview Dr. SE is likely a total loss after most of his roof was ripped off. He says part of the roof landed about a mile away near Legoland Florida.

Tuesday, Frankenburger continued cleaning up the debris and downed trees in his yard along with friends and family members.

"Yeah, it kind of takes your breath away but we were OK and have been since," Frankenburger tells 10 News.

When the tornado hit, Frankenburger was home with his wife, Gail, and his mother-in-law. He says they tried to get to an interior closet after hearing windows start to break but they didn't get there. However, the room they hid in was the only room in the house where the roof was not damaged.

"People say we're lucky. I say we're blessed," Frankenburger says while noting no one in the family was hurt.

This isn't the first time the Frankenburgers survived a tornado. Eight years ago they also saw one go over their home during Hurricane Charley.
