Tropical Storm Debby creates sinkholes in Spring Hill

Spring Hill, Florida -- Hernando deputies say several sinkholes have opened on roadways due to Tropical Storm Debby.

Mariner Boulevard in the area of Claymore Road and Little Street is closed due to several sinkholes that have opened up. The area will remain shut down until repairs can be made.

Other road issues:

  • The area of Spring Hill Drive from California Street to Broad Street (US41) is closed due to high water covering the roadway.
  • Northclifee Boulevard in the area of Central Park Drive is also experiencing high water covering the roadway making it dangerous to pass.
  • Flooding has been reported in the low lying areas of Masaryktown where members of the Sheriff's office are on scene assisting with evacuations. Areas of Roosevelt Ave, Hodza St. and Wilson Blvd. are all experiencing flooding in this area.

Crews will be heading out throughout Hernando County Monday to assess damages from tropical Storm Debby.
