Tampa, Florida -- Brotherly love did not win out in this home invasion case as a man arrested in connection with the incident on June 6 rolled on his brother as his accomplice.
Hillsborough Sheriff's detectives say in the overnight hours of June 6, the two men shot off the lock of the front door of an apartment on Chaucer Court forcing their way inside.
They then ordered the resident, Larry West to the ground and stole two televisions and a cell phone. When West started to get up after he thought they left, one of them shot him in the butt.
About 12 hours later, Damarc Owens pawned one of the stolen televisions using his ID card. Owens was tracked down by deputies and arrested on June 14.
During interviews with detectives, Owens admitted to committing the crime and ID's his brother Ernest Hardy as West's shooter. West, 25, positively identified Hardy as the man who shot him in a line-up.
Hardy, 22, has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and Robbery. Owens, 24, has been charged with Attempted Felony Murder, Robbery Home Invasion and Dealing in Stolen Property.
