Detectives investigating death of inmate at South County Jail

FROSTPROOF, Fla. -- Polk County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a 28-year-old inmate at the South County Jail in Frostproof.

Detectives say Brian Brewer was found unresponsive in his bunk around 5 a.m. on Saturday by his cellmate, who alerted deputies. They called 911 and began CPR, but Brewer never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead at the jail.

Brewer was arrested on Friday, Feb. 17 on two counts of violating his probation. He was sentenced to 270 days in jail.

Deputies say no foul play is suspected. An autopsy will be conducted to determine Brewer's exact cause of death.
