Winter Haven, Florida -- A Winter Haven woman and a juvenile accomplice were arrested Saturday after they racked up over $3,000 in stolen merchandise, along with a puppy and a hamster.
According to the Winter Haven Police Department, Niccole Rae Ruston and her accomplice were busted by a loss prevention officer at the Belk store on 3rd Street SW. Over $600 worth of merchandise was found in their possession from the department store.
After officers responded, bags full of additional merchandise from a local Macy's, Pier 1 Imports, Walgreens and Hibbett Sports were found inside Ruston's car.
A black 4-month-old Chihuahua and hamster that had been reported stolen from the Pet Harbor in Winter Haven were later found at her home.
Ruston, 33, is charged with two counts of Grand Theft, four counts of Petit Theft, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Child Abuse. The juvenile was charged with Shoplifting and Petit Theft and was taken to the Polk Juvenile Assessment Center.
