U.S. Representative Kathy Castor
Tampa, FL -- Veterans face a higher unemployment rate here in the Bay area than the rest of those who are out of work.
Returning service members from overseas can become part of the 14 percent in need of jobs, but Congresswoman Kathy Castor and Hillsborough Circuit Judge Greg Holder hope employers will welcome them with open arms.
Castor and Holder talked about state efforts to get veterans back to work with tax incentives and the efforts of the Florida Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve which has more than 100 people working statewide to find jobs for those serving in the military.
Holder's son is currently serving in Afghanistan and says the least people can do for our military men and women is to get them back to work.
Castor says the Hire Heroes Act would offer a $5,600 tax credit for employers putting returning heroes to work and a $9,600 tax credit for hiring a wounded warrior.
