PINELLAS PARK, Fla. -- A woman driving a personal mobility device was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Saturday night, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.
Police say the victim, 64-year-old Pamela Lynn Collier, was southbound on the west side of 66th Street N. crossing 78th Avenue when the accident occured. According to a witness, Collier was crossing against the red light. A car described as a dark-colored SUV was east on 78th Ave. and had a green light when it struck Collier.
The SUV slowed down after hitting Collier and then left the scene, possibly northbound on 66th Street, say Pinellas Park Police. Collier was transported to Bayfront Medical Center, where she later died.
The intersection was closed for about two and a half hours while traffic homicide investigators searched the crime scene.
