Bradenton, Florida -  Today Prevent Blindness Florida will conduct free vision screenings for adults and children at the Manatee County Health Dept., 410 6th Avenue East in Bradenton on Thursday, May 17, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The screenings will be conducted by nationally certified Prevent Blindness Florida staff and volunteers. Children are screened for "lazy eye", and near and far vision, while adults are screened for near and far vision as well as for cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Those who do not pass the screening are referred to their eye care professional for a complete eye examination. Prevent Blindness Florida may be able to assist individuals who qualify financially to obtain free examinations and eyeglasses. In addition, eye vitamin samples and information about eye safety and health will be available.
