Tampa, Florida -- The two biggest names in Bay area healthcare are joining forces to create a new corporation.
Florida Hospital and Tampa General Hospital are each contributing $1 million to create a new operating board.
The CEOs made it clear during Tuesday's announcement the hospitals are not merging. Instead, their alliance -- along with a partnership with the University of South Florida -- will allow the healthcare providers to create new clinical services and broaden their geographic footprint.
Their goal is to change medical care while keeping costs low.
The CEOs say more details will come after they form the board comprising of an equal number of members representing both hospitals.
