FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (AP) - Florida's Democratic leaders are sending Gov. Rick Scott another demand for a special session to discuss expanding Medicaid coverage to 1.1 million residents.

House Democratic Leader Perry Thurston of Plantation says "it's time to act." Thurston and a delegation of Broward County Democrats voted to draft a letter to Scott at a packed town hall Tuesday night.

Lawmakers ended their Legislative session last month without reaching an agreement on Medicaid expansion and passed up more than $50 billion in federal funds under the Affordable Care Act.

Scott made an about-face decision earlier this year when he expressed his support for Medicaid expansion. But last month, Scott also said that a special session to discuss the expansion doesn't make sense unless Republican House leaders changed their minds.
