ORLANDO, Florida (AP) - Health officials say a baby has died of whooping cough in Orange County.
According to WFTV it's the first whooping cough death reported in Orange County in about 20 years. Health officials announced the death on Thursday.
Officials say the baby's parents had chosen not to vaccinate the child.
The station reported that Orange County had one case of measles and 42 cases of pertussis, or whooping cough, last year. So far this year, the health department reports four cases of measles and 12 cases of pertussis.
Health officials believe the baby caught the disease from an adult.
