St. Anthony's Hospital offers free seminars for heart health

St. Petersburg, Florida -- February is not only a time to express your love for that special someone, but to make sure you're heart healthy. You can take part in free seminars at St. Anthony's Hospital as part of National Heart Health Awareness Month.

"Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women," says David Kohl, MD, St. Anthony's cardiologist. "If you can find out earlier if you are at risk of developing heart disease and then take steps to reduce the risks, then you are on the right track for good heart health."

The community health seminars with Dr. Kohl and the heart healthy fair are scheduled on the following dates:

Exercise, Sports and Heart Health

Join cardiologist David Kohl, MD, and personal trainer Michael Bologna, to learn more about the importance of a good heart when exercising or participating in a sport; and tools offered for testing performance including VO2 Max.

Heart Healthy Fair

Join St. Anthony's experts at the heart healthy fair for health screenings: carotid ultrasound, EKG, blood pressure and comprehensive sleep screening evaluations; and for more information on diabetes, nutrition, cardiac rehab and sleep services.

Be Your Own Best Heart Doctor

Cardiologist David Kohl, MD, will discuss many ways to improve your health and reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease and how good nutrition, lower blood pressure and cholesterol and increased physical activity plays a role in good heart health. A light lunch will be served.
