TAMPA, Florida (AP) - Tampa General Hospital executives have announced the appointment of Jim Burkhart as the hospital's next leader.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that the 58-year-old Burkhart is currently the president and CEO of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center.
Burkhart has worked in Jacksonville for more than a decade, serving as president and CEO since 2010. He joined Shands Jacksonville as president and administrator in 2003.
He replaces Ron Hytoff, who announced his retirement in June.
Tampa General is the main teaching partner of the University of South Florida. It has more than 1,000 beds and 6,400 employees.
