TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay will dress-up to cut-down the rate of ovarian cancer in women.

Local non-profit group Balance Tampa Bay will host a charity costume party to raise money for ovarian cancer. The disease affects one in 69 women and ranks as the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in American women.

Mise en Place will host the event in their Lafayette Ballroom on Friday, Aug. 19 beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Guests should wear their most creative gladiator-themed costumes. The best costumes win an award!

Tickets can be purchased at the door with a $15 minimum donation or a $20 minimum donation for VIP entrance.

All proceeds benefit Tampa's Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation. The local organization provides funding for cancer research and education and has given thousands to the work of area hospitals like the Moffitt Cancer Center.
